Dozens of Dead Animals Removed from Old Saybrook Home in Extreme Case of Animal Cruelty

Writer: viralibleviralible

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WTNH) — A heartbreaking discovery was made in Old Saybrook on Wednesday, when more than 70 dead animals were removed from a home on River Street, marking an extreme case of animal cruelty. Authorities have vowed to pursue a full investigation into this disturbing incident.

According to a spokesperson from Clean In Between, the cleaning company tasked with removing the remains, workers spent hours at the scene removing the animals, which included cats, rabbits, chickens, birds, a skunk, and possibly some possums. The conditions inside the home were described as deplorable. Tanner Orlowski, an employee at the company, explained the gruesome situation, saying, “This morning, we walked in, and it was piled high with trash and dead animal carcasses. When we started, we couldn’t even walk in there. We had to shovel our way through just to make space to work.”

The Old Saybrook Police Department has confirmed that no live animals were found at the property and that no people were living in the home at the time of discovery. The property had been vacant since September, following the eviction of the homeowner, with utilities already cut off. Neighbors reported seeing someone with a flashlight entering the basement late at night, allegedly to feed the animals.

An Ongoing Investigation

Police Chief Michael Spera emphasized that this case would receive a thorough investigation, saying, “We have no tolerance for the mistreatment of animals and will work with the court to hold those responsible accountable.” He assured the public that the Old Saybrook Police Department would ensure justice for the animals who suffered in silence.

While no live animals were found, the discovery of such a large number of carcasses in such appalling conditions is a stark reminder of the ongoing issue of animal cruelty and neglect. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances behind this case, and the community is awaiting further updates.

This tragic situation serves as a reminder of the importance of animal welfare laws and the need for awareness in recognizing signs of neglect and cruelty. As advocates for animal rights, we must all remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to animal abuse.
